weekly photo challenge: descent

I have lived in New England for 46 years, and on this day in August 2014, I dove into a lake for the first time.

Descent.

weekly writing challenge: truth is stranger than fiction.

The truth behind a photo:

As far as photographs go, this one is famous in our family.  These people are smiling for one 4-letter reason.  L-O-V-E.  My father knew how to make his grandchildren laugh like nobody else.  We had just finished dinner at his beach house,  ready-ing ourselves for a trip to the ice-cream store for the group favorite…’Dinosaur Crunch.’  When asked to describe what Dinosaur Crunch ice cream is like, here is the response:

“It’s blue, and it has chocolate chips and pink swirls in it.”

“It kind of tastes like cotton candy.”

 “There’s like pinkish in it.”

If being with your grandfather, after a day at the beach, on your way to get ice cream doesn’t make you happy, I don’t know what does!

blue

It is always easy for me to get lost in the beauty of a flower.  These blue hydrangea petals are no exception.  Serenity captured during a family celebration.
